At Mauser Packaging Solutions, it is our ethical responsibility to ensure that each employee goes home safe, every day. During the second quarter, Mauser facilities gave special emphasis to safety during June through the observation of Safety Month. Throughout the month, employees participated in the Global Safety Stand Down, training and activities to ensure employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to demonstrate a personal commitment to safety.
Lagging indicator metrics for Q2 remained consistent with Q1 results. After May having the highest number of incidents for the year, June followed with the lowest number in incidents to balance out the quarterly results. The quarter overall maintained a year-to-date Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 1.67 and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR) 0.56. Both rates are below 2023 year-end results and head of targets for 2024. “We are on target to meet our safety goals for the year, but we must remain committed to finishing the last half of the year strong. The spike in incidents in May reminds us that we can never lose focus on safety and the improvement in June reiterates that we can do better when we are committed to safety in everything we do,” commented Rick Capps, NAIP Director of Environmental Health and Safety.
In addition to safety within our facilities, Mauser is committed to the safety of the drivers in our private fleet and those they encounter on the road. During Q2 this year, fourteen drivers received a clean DOT roadside inspection*. These drivers are Roderick Gray (Chicago Region), Grant Ewell (East Region), Maytham Salih (Midwest Region), Antonio Porche (North Region), Ryan Hendrickson (North Region), Dwayne Barnes (North Region), Kevin Mackesy (South Region), Stephen Raughton (South Region), Marc Marks (South Region), Miguel Soto (West Region), Faustino Tamayo (West Region), Alberto Sanchez (West Region), Antonio Camarena (West Region), Julio Diaz (West Region).
