National Safety Month - Week Two - Roadway Safety
According to National Safety Council estimates, 44,450 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2023. At Mauser Packaging Solutions, we are committed to responsible operation of motor vehicles in support of our commitment to safe operations within our communities.
The Mauser fleet is comprised of over 150 trucks used to transport over 7,500 trailers that traveled over 9 million miles in 2023. As a company, we are committed to ensuring the professionals who operate these trucks have the tools and training to perform their duties safely to provide secure shipment for our customers while representing the company to the public they encounter on the roads. Operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle brings many challenges as well as the opportunity to have a positive impact within the industry and on the (general) public.
But roadway safety is the responsibility of all of us, not just the drivers who are on the road for work. Being safe behind the wheel encompasses a variety of behaviors including but not limited to following road safety rules and laws, avoiding distracted or impaired driving, being situationally aware, ensuring your vehicle is in safe, working order and always wearing a seat belt. The same commitment we have to safety at work translates to roadway safety and when we are intentionally aware of our safety responsibilities then practicing safe behavior becomes second nature no matter where you are or what you are doing.
A commitment to safety does not end when you leave the facility. Safety is personal – so personal that impacts every aspect of life including your driving behavior.
