At Mauser Packaging Solutions, it is our ethical responsibility to ensure that each employee goes home safe, every day. During Quarter 3, there was month over month reduction in Total Recordable Incidents and Lost Time Recordable Incidents remained consistent at 5 or below for each month. Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR) continues to trend below 2023 with a 20.9% reduction in TRIR and 22.5% reduction LTIR compared to 2023 year-end. TRIR increased from Quarter 2 but with continued focus on safety through the end of the year there is still opportunity to realize year-over-year improvement and finish the year with TRIR and LTIR below industry benchmarks.

Facility Safety Milestones
This quarter, several facilities celebrated safety milestones related to TRIR and LTIR.
Indianapolis, Ind. (NASP) – The Indianapolis facility reached 13 years without a Lost Time Accident in August. The team celebrated with a cookout that was attended by Bob Bourque (NASP, President), Glen Dozier (NASP-Plastics, Vice President) and other Mauser leadership.
Lakeland, Fla. (NAIP-Reco) – The Lakeland, Fla. facility recently reached 4 years without a recordable incident. David Swanbeck, Plant Manager, credits this milestone to consistent engagement on the plant floor with employees regarding safety. “In addition to enforcing safety rules we develop a safety culture through making employees aware of hazards in their work area and establishing redundant safety rules applicable to our facility,” commented Swanbeck.
Providence, RI (NAIP-Reco) - The Providence RI facility also recently reached 4 years without a recordable incident. David Gesmondi in Providence emphasized the importance of daily safety meetings and toolbox talks to remind the team of the importance of strictly following safety rules. “We conduct at least two daily safety audit walks and work observations to demonstrate Mauser’s commitment to employee safety,” said Gesmondi.
“Reaching four years without a recordable incident is no small feat. It takes continuous vigilance, a proactive mindset, and strong teamwork. The success of our Lakeland and Providence teams sets a high standard for all of us and proves that, with focus and determination, such milestones are possible. These teams have shown that prioritizing safety is not just an achievable goal—it’s a way of working.”
Reconditioning – West Division (NAIP) – The NAIP Reconditioning – West facilities are realizing significant improvement in lagging indicators after investing in establishing a culture that prioritizes safety across the division. Four of the six locations have no recordable incidents for the year and have celebrated recordable incident milestones:
- Brighton, Colo. – 2 years with no recordable
- Roseville, Calif. – 1 year with no recordable incidents
- Salt Lake City, Utah – 4 years with no recordable incidents
- Seattle, Wash. – 1 year with no recordable incidents
“These teams have worked very hard to improve the safety culture in facilities that have historically had very poor safety performance. Despite setbacks in a few facilities, these teams are doing the things needed to create a safe working environment for everyone."
Mauser International Packaging Solutions – The International business unit recognizes the following facilities for achieving 48 months or more with no recordable incidents: Benelux Reconditioning, Netherlands (8 years); Tuzla, Turkey (7 years); St. Priest Reconditioning, France (6 years); Queimados, Brazil (5 years); Norway (5 years); Taubaté, Brazil (5 years); Hordain, France (4 years); Bickenbach, Germany (4 years); Jinshan, China (4 years). These facilities provide an example of what can be achieved when a workplace embraces a culture focused on safety.
Transportation – In addition to safety within our facilities, Mauser is committed to the safety of the drivers in our private fleet and those they encounter on the road. During Q3 this year, Mauser drivers received 22 clean DOT roadside inspections*. These drivers are:
